Some songs show up and immediately feel bigger than you.
“Celebrated Destruction of Paradise” has always been that song for us.

When we first wrote it, it became the center of this whole record we are building. It is loud and messy and honest. It lives in that weird place between wanting to set everything on fire and still hoping we can fix what is broken. It is about celebrating and grieving at the same time.

Then Jonathan Beckner walked in.

Jonathan works at Real 2 Reel Studios, where we have been recording this project with Real People Music. One day in the studio, he heard the chorus and basically said, “This is a dance track.” Not in a subtle way. In a shake-your-entire-body, windows-rattling, “you’re definitely sweating by the second chorus” kind of way.

So we let him go for it.

Jonathan took “Celebrated Destruction of Paradise” and flipped it into this wild dance version that still feels like us, just living in a different universe. The guitars and vocals are still there, but now there is this relentless beat underneath it that makes you want to move whether you intended to or not. It feels like the song put on a different outfit and went out clubbing.

The meaning did not go anywhere.
It still carries that tension of watching the world feel more and more chaotic while people line up to consume more stuff they do not need. Which is part of why dropping this version on Black Friday felt perfect. While everybody is chasing deals, we wanted to drop something you can throw on, turn up way too loud, and process all of that with a little bit of rhythm and a little bit of rage.

Working with Jonathan has been a blast. He treated the song with a lot of care, but he was not afraid to push it into new territory. He pulled out details we did not even realize were there and built this version that hits in your chest and in your feet at the same time.

We are really proud of what came out of this collaboration.
