What's up, everyone?! This is Jasper from HeyDreamer! First off, thanks for checking out the brand new website! It's been quite a while in the making. Today, our new album, If You're Out There, is now streaming on all major platforms. Pick it up and let us know what you think! This first blog post is going to be about the song that started it all. I wanted to give you all some insight on how we wrote it, recorded it, and how it made it onto our album! This whole project started with me writing some instrumentals in my room after work, as I would usually do. One day, Melody and I were hanging out, and she asked if I had written anything new, so I showed her a song that clicked in both of our heads. We knew that this could be something huge! That song was "The Road Not Taken." When we sat down to write and record scratch vocals, the process was incredibly fast, and we finished the song in just under a day. It was one of the first songs that we recorded for this album, and after some studio magic, the song grew into something that neither of us anticipated!
Lyrically, we really wanted to capture how we were both feeling about life, about trying to make a living in the music industry, and about growing older and not wanting to look back with regret. The whole story is about a young man and a young woman chasing their dreams, as well as the hardships that come with that. "She sold her dream...recalled fond memories about days past when she believed." It's like when you're almost to the point of giving up on it all, and then you remember that if you do, you'll regret not giving it your all for the rest of your life. At the time, we were both feeling down about where to go and just feeling a little scared of the world ahead, but we both knew that we wanted to fight for our dreams and not wake up one day feeling like we didn't try our hardest to do whatever we could. From that day on, HeyDreamer came alive, and we won't stop until we're on top of the world. Thanks for dreaming, Dreamers!!!
